"I don't always speak up because I expect it to change others. Sometimes, I speak because not doing so would change me."
Part of me wonders if the good bishop and rabbi spoke up because they could not bear the thought of remaining silent. Even though it doesn't change Trump's mind (and like you, I'm sure it won't), they can take some comfort in knowing they said something.
