Guess it's no accident that AWE-FULL and AWFUL are rooted with the same sound?
I've always equated "thoughts and prayers" with that of being a "parental kiss on a kid's boo-boo". It does nothing to fix what might have caused the injury, nothing really to physically heal the injury, but subtly lets the kid know that they're not alone in dealing with the hurt. Unfortunately, this same wound keeps opening up and gets deeper every time. What's so infuriating is that even though it's not nearly enough anymore, as a country, we can't even seem to apply some bacitracin and a band-aid.
